ASEM endorses Obama Middle East peace plan
Jun 8, 2011, 8:30 GMT
Godollo, Hungary - Foreign ministers from 46 European and Asian countries declared their 'strong support' Tuesday for the 'vision of Israeli-Palestinian peace' outlined recently by US President Barack Obama.
As part of a statement issued after a two-day Asia-Europe (ASEM) in Hungary, foreign ministers said 'meaningful progress' was needed towards a two-state solution along 1967 borders with negotiated land swaps.
'A way must be found to overcome the current stalemate and establish substantial negotiations between the parties,' the statement read.
The ASEM meeting involved representatives of all EU member states, the Alliance of South East Asian Nations, as well as China, Japan, India, Australia and others.
