US enacts visa bans on Iranian officials
Jul 8, 2011, 16:55 GMT
Washington - The United States imposed a visa ban Friday on more than 50 Iranian officials believed to have participated in political repression and human rights abuses, the US State Department said.
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton approved the measures as Washington seeks to increase pressure on Iran for crackdowns against political dissidents.
The State Department did not identify the officials subject to the ban, citing privacy laws regarding the visa application process.
