Aug 20, 2011, 11:52 GMT
Cairo - The Arab League will hold an emergency meeting on Sunday to discuss Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past two days, state media said Saturday.
'The Arab League received a request from the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the Israeli aggression on Gaza,' state television reported.
The 22-member organization will host the emergency meeting on the level of the permanent representatives.
Around a dozen people were killed in Israeli air strikes on Gaza, as violence erupted after a Thursday attack that left 8 Israelis dead around the city of Eilat.
