Aug 21, 2011, 12:14 GMT
Amman - The Jordanian government on Sunday condemned the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the killing of Egyptian policemen by Israeli troops in the Sinai border area.
'Jordan strongly condemns and categorically rejects this dangerous Israeli military escalation against civilians in Gaza,' said the minister of state for media affairs, Abdullah Abu Romman.
He urged 'an immediate halt' on Israeli attacks on Gaza to prevent a 'further escalation that could jeopardize the security and stability of the entire region.'
Late Saturday, police prevented hundreds of Jordanians from gathering at the Israeli embassy in Amman to protest the attacks.
