Sep 26, 2011, 5:53 GMT
Beirut - Three unknown assailants assaulted a Lebanese groom and briefly kidnapped his bride in eastern Lebanon, a police report said Monday.
The attack happened Sunday, hours after the couple were married, as they were heading to the area for their honeymoon.
The assailants hit the groom in his head, took the keys of his car and cell phone, and kidnapped his bride, the police said.
She was released near the eastern town of Zhale a few hours later, but the thieves kept her jewellery and the car.
The Voice of Lebanon radio station said the groom was a Lebanese army corporal.
