Three killed in Iraq suicide bombing
Sep 29, 2011, 10:10 GMT
Baghdad- A suicide bombing in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk has killed at least three people and injured 65 others, security sources said Thursday.
The car bomb attack was carried out as a group of policemen were queueing up to get their salaries at a bank in central Kirkuk, said the sources.
Most of the casualties were police soldiers, they added. The assault also left some 30 neighbouring buildings and 10 cars damaged.
Violence in Iraq had steadily dropped after Sunni-Shiite bloodshed peaked in 2006. But bombings and attacks have recently become an almost daily event again, often targeting security personnel.
On Sunday, 24 people were killed in a wave of bombings in two other Iraqi cities.
