EU freezes assets of five people connected to alleged Iranian plot
Oct 21, 2011, 13:31 GMT
Brussels - The European Union said Friday it would freeze the assets of five people involved in the alleged Iranian plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to the United States.
'Their financial assets in the EU will be frozen so that no funds may be made available to them,' the bloc said in a statement, without mentioning the nationalities of the suspected terrorists.
But one EU official told dpa that one of the five is an Iranian national who is already subject to EU and UN sanctions due to his involvement in his country's nuclear programme.
The names of the individuals were due to be published Saturday in the EU's official journal.
