Former Israeli president begins prison sentence
Dec 7, 2011, 8:18 GMT
Tel Aviv - Disgraced former Israeli President Moshe Katsav entered prison Wednesday morning, to begin serving a seven-year sentence for rape and sexual harassment.
Katsav was met at the entrance to the minimum-security Ma'asayahu prison, near Ramle in the centre of the country, by prison wardens who escorted him inside.
Dozens of Katsav's supporters and family members were waiting outside the prison, but were prevented by police from getting close to the vehicle driving the former president to the prison entrance.
