Reports: Laid-off Iranian throws shoes at Ahmadinejad
Dec 12, 2011, 14:39 GMT
Tehran - A laid-off textile worker threw his shoes at President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday, during a visit to the northern city of Sari, Iranian opposition websites reported.
Iranian media rarely report humiliations suffered by regime figures.
The Aftabnews and Etedaal websites said the man missed Ahmadinejad, who was delivering a speech to workers of the Mazandaran textile factory, one of the biggest in Iran.
Ahmadinejad was interrupted by angry workers several times during his speech, Fararu news website reported.
Ahmadinejad supporters tried to attack the man, but he was saved by policemen, according to Aftabnews and Etedaal. The man's fate is unclear.
The presidential office and state-run media were silent on the incident.
