Rapist hanged in western Iran

Tehran - A rapist was hanged on Sunday in western Iran, the ISNA news agency reported.
The man had in 2006 abducted and raped a woman and was on the run for five years, the report said.
The man was hanged in the central prison of the city Ilam after his death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Murder, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking of quantities in excess of 5 kilograms are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran.
