Dec 18, 2011, 17:59 GMT
Tel Aviv - Israel began Sunday night transferring some 550 Palestinian prisoners being freed in a prisoner exchange from a jail in central Israel to crossing points from where they will cross into Palestinian or Jordanian territory.
A spokeswoman for the Israel Prison Service confirmed the first buses with 41 prisoners had left the Ayalon prison for the Gaza Strip. The remaining prisoners are being released to the West Bank, East Jerusalem, or Jordan.
