Israeli soldiers fire at Palestinian along Gaza border
Dec 31, 2011, 19:00 GMT
Gaza/Tel Aviv - Israeli soldiers fired Saturday at a Palestinian along the Gaza border fence, the military confirmed.
The 35-year-old was taken to hospital with injuries that were serious, but not life-threatening, Gazan emergency services said.
The man had reportedly approached the border fence in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, and did not stop after warning shots were fired in the air.
The soldiers then fired at the man's lower body, and provided medical assistance after he had been hit. It was not known why he was approaching the heavily guarded border.
