Jordan's king leaves Amman for talks with Obama on Arab Spring
Jan 14, 2012, 12:44 GMT
Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II left Amman on Saturday for a working visit to the United States, the royal court announced.
The monarch is due to hold a meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House on Tuesday on the prospects of bringing the Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table with a view to accomplishing the two-state solution.
Jordan is currently hosting a series of exploratory talks between the Palestinians and Israel with the aim of reaching a common ground that enables the two sides to resume the direct talks that faltered 16 months ago.
The discussions between the king and Obama were also expected to focus on 'latest Arab and regional developments' and steps taken by Jordan to carry out domestic political and economic reforms.
