Convicts hanged in Iran

Tehran - Twelve convicts were hanged on Sunday in the southern Iranian province of Fars, the Mehr news agency reported.
Seven of them were charged with drug trafficking, while the others were convicted on charges of murder, armed robbery, kidnapping or rape.
The dozen were hanged in a prison in the provincial capital Shiraz after their death sentences were confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Murder, rape, armed robbery and trafficking in more than 5 kilograms of illegal drugs are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran.
