Jan 25, 2012, 8:43 GMT
Gaza City - The EU's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, crossed into the Gaza Strip Wednesday, to meet civil organizations and with officials from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA.)
Ashton, who began a three-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories on Tuesday, will not hold any meetings with officials from Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group which runs the Gaza Strip, and is currently under a Western diplomatic boycott.
She is scheduled to leave the salient later Wednesday, and to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Wednesday evening.
