Report: US threatens to withhold military aid to Egypt
Jan 27, 2012, 17:32 GMT
Washington - The United States is threatening to withhold its annual military aid to Egypt, which has barred the son of a cabinet member and other US citizens from leaving the country, The New York Times reported Friday.
Michael H Posner, the US assistant secretary of state for human rights, said that military aid from the US was at stake because of the issue.
'Obviously, any action that creates tension with our government makes the whole (aid) package more difficult,' he said at a press conference in Cairo, according to the Times.
