Iran's leader warns of possible attacks by US, Israel
Feb 3, 2012, 10:42 GMT
Tehran - Iran's leader warned the United States and Israel on Friday against possible military attacks on the country's nuclear sites.
'Thinking of such attacks would be to their disadvantage, launching those attacks would be ten times more to their disadvantage,' Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said at Friday prayers in Tehran.
The Iranian leader's remarks came after US media reported that Israel could attack Iran's nuclear sites in coming months, in a bid to stop Tehran from producing a nuclear weapon.
The Washington Post reported that Panetta thought there was a 'strong likelihood' that Israel could order a strike in April, May or June, before Tehran could build a nuclear weapon and stockpile uranium underground, out of reach of Israeli weapons.
'We have our own way to reply to such threats,' said Khamenei who, according to the Iranian constitution, has the final say on all state affairs.
Khamenei gave no further details in his speech but just said that the military threats were being made because the US was afraid of a logical dialogue.
