Gaza prime minister Haniyeh arrives in Tehran
Feb 10, 2012, 14:35 GMT
Tehran - The prime minister of the Gaza Strip and leading member of the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, arrived on Friday in Tehran for talks on the latest developments in the Middle East.
Haniyeh is set to meet with Iranian leaders President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
He is also scheduled to hold a speech at the special ceremonies marking the 33rd anniversary of Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution and receive an honorary doctorate from Tehran University.
Iran, which does not recognise the state of Israel, is a supporter of Hamas but has constantly denied providing any financial and military aid to the militia group.
Iran, whose president has called for the destruction of Israel, is been accused by both the Jewish state and the West of attempting to develop nuclear weapons.
