UN General Assembly to hold debate on human rights in Syria
Feb 10, 2012, 17:40 GMT
New York - The UN General Assembly is scheduled to hold a debate on Monday on the situation in Syria, with an address by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay.
Pillay's spokesman, Rupert Colville, said in Geneva on Friday: 'We believe, and we've said it and we'll keep repeating it, that the case of Syria belongs in the International Criminal Court. This would give a very, very strong message to those running the show.'
Colville confirmed Pillay is scheduled to address the 193-nation assembly in New York, adding that a draft resolution on the situation in Syria was being prepared.
