Feb 12, 2012, 11:18 GMT
Cairo - Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has called on Syrians not to rely on the Arab League or the West in their uprising against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
'Our people in Syria, don't count on the West, the United States, the Arab governments or Turkey,' al-Zawahiri said in a video posted on an Islamist website on Sunday.
The Egyptian-born former surgeon who succeeded Osama bin Laden urged Syrians to go ahead with their 'uprising and anger' to install an Islamic government.
