Arab League calls for adoption of plan to end Syria unrest
Feb 13, 2012, 17:27 GMT
New York - The Arab League urged the UN General Assembly Monday to adopt a draft resolution supporting its plan of action to end the bloodshed in Syria.
The Saudi Arabia-led draft contained demands that are similar to those found in a UN Security Council resolution that was vetoed by Russia and China on February 4. A major provision is for Damascus to begin a political transition to a multi-party, democratic system which would meet popular demands for freedoms.
