Obama and Cameron discuss further action on Syria
Feb 14, 2012, 9:15 GMT
London - US President Barack Obama and Britain's David Cameron have discussed the possibility of tightening sanctions against Syria, a spokesman for the British prime minister said Tuesday.
He said both men expressed their disappointment in a telephone call late Monday at the failure of the UN Security Council to agree on a resolution, due to opposition from China and Russia.
'They agreed on the need for international unity against the regime's attacks on its own citizens, including further action at the UN and a broad and strong coalition in the new Friends of Syria group,' the spokesman said about the conversation.
The increase of pressure on Syria through additional sanctions was also discussed, he added.
