Iran trying to attack Israelis abroad, counter-terror bureau warns
Feb 17, 2012, 13:30 GMT
Jerusalem - Iran and the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah are trying to target Israelis and Jews worldwide, Israel's Counter-Terrorism Bureau warned Friday, days after a series of attacks and attempted attacks in India, Georgia and Thailand.
The conclusion was reached 'in light of the findings emerging from the questioning of detainees' arrested after the recent attacks, the bureau said in a statement.
The statement warned Israelis abroad to be alert, avoid taking suspicious objects from strangers, and to pay attention to local security guidelines.
Israeli authorities have said there are links between the attacks this week.
In New Delhi, an Israeli diplomat's wife was injured on Monday when a motorist attached an explosive device to her car.
On the same day, a driver for the Israeli embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia, found a grenade taped to the bottom of an embassy car.
On Tuesday, an Iranian national was severely injured in Bangkok when he threw a grenade at a police car, which bounced back and exploded, severing his legs.
An explosion also rocked a rented house in Bangkok, prompting four foreign residents to flee. Police said they found C-4 plastic explosives in the house.
Thai police said Thursday that Iranians involved in the Bangkok blasts had planned to attack Israelis.
