Cameron pays tribute to war reporter killed in Syria
Feb 22, 2012, 12:49 GMT
London - British Prime Minister David Cameron Wednesday paid tribute to veteran war reporter Marie Colvin, killed during shelling in the Syrian city of Homs.
Colvin, a US citizen who worked for the Sunday Times, had been a 'talented and respected' journalist whose death was a reminder of the risks journalists were taking to report the 'dreadful events' in Syria, Cameron said in parliament.
Ed Miliband, the leader of the opposition Labour Party, said that the journalistic community had lost 'one of their finest and their most fearless.'
Sunday Times editor John Witherow called her an 'extraordinary figure' who was 'driven by a passion to cover wars in the belief that what she did mattered.'
