Navy foils attack on food ship in northern Sri Lanka

Colombo The Sri Lankan navy foiled an attack by Tamil Tiger rebels on a food ship and destroyed at least three of their boats off the north coast on Sunday, a military spokesman said.
The ship, 'City of Liverpool' had unloaded food stocks and was travelling to Kankasanthurai harbour, 410 kilometres north of Colombo, when it was attacked, he said.
At least 15 to 20 rebels were involved in the attack.
Six boats had followed the ship and one of them had exploded nearby causing damage to it.
'At least three rebel boats were destroyed but details of the casualties were not known immediately. Three sailors were injured,' the spokesman said.
The ship has been towed to safety.
The government has been sending food to northern Sri Lanka by ship since last August after the main highway to the region was closed in the wake of battles with the rebels of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Sri Lankan government is not sending any food to the Tamil civilians in the Jaffna peninsula!!!
It is false propaganda!! I talked to my sister in Jaffna! They can't buy match boxes, they are buying match sticks for 15 rupees!!!! Thats right Sri Lankan government even sanctioned Match boxes.... People are suffering and dying while the Sri Lankan government is busy drawing a rosy picture for the outside world!!!
According to www.Tamilnet.com, the ship was returning from Jaffna. Why would the Tamil forces attack an empty ship???
Sri LIEnkan government must be transporting troops to the Eastern Sri Lanka where they captured Vaharai Town. Sri Lankan government is jubilient about this win (Tamil military didn't resist at all).
Now they believe that they can push for more gain in Eastern Sri Lanka so the Singhala politicians can score some brownie points. They need to widthrow some troops from Jaffna(400 sqKM) where 40%(45,000) Sri Lanka troops are placed!
Sri LIEnkan military usually load their troops in civilian ships or food ships in FEAR of attacks by the Tamil naval forces.
Tamil Navy is not stupid enough to waste their resources attacking an empty ship!! Sri Lankan government is hiding the troop movement part!!

I read some comments in earlier posts, claiming that the LTTE did not assinate the PM of India! I read that it was a conspiracy by the Ind. Gov. to blame the LTTE for the killing! The LTTE denied this killing to their own supporters for more than a decade, only fooling the foolish LTTE supporters only, because the IC all knew that the LTTE did it... no-one else other than these pathetic supporters believed this crap... and then, just before your hero Anton passed away, he apologised for the killing! He admitted that the LTTE did a blunder by killing Rajiv and that they are sorry! It's pathetic because they are only sucking up to India because they need their help now...

The LTTE are only lying to their own! The SLA released pictures from the liberated Vakerai area, and it shows that the LTTE propaganda about the Vakerai hospital being bombed is a TOTAL LIE! There are many pictures of the hospital and there's no sign of damages to the hospital! The media centre for the armed forces also confirmed that there are no damages to the hospital!
Also, there are some pictures released that show mortar holes in the ground around the hospital grounds area! There are a lot of tents and displaced belongings around the mortar holes also, confirming that the LTTE used the vakerai hospital and the internally displaced civilans as a shield for them to fire mortar! There are countless tents and belongings in and around these mortar gun holes and positions, all within the hospital premises!
The LTTE lies about everything! They use their own people as sheilds! They cause and continue the suffering of the Tamil race in Sri Lanka! They are killing off the tamil youth!
NO ONE can deny these truths!

'The LTTE today launched a suicide attack on a cargo ship with seven Indians in its crew off the Jaffna coast that left at least six rebels dead, as the Sri Lankan Army continued its onslaught on rebel bases, killing at least 18 fleeing Tigers.
The navy said it managed to blow out of the water two suicide boats of the Tamil Tigers while a third managed to ram against the MV City of Liverpool that was unloading wheat flour for residents of Jaffna.
The Sri Lankan-chartered vessel was damaged and taking in water with the navy trying to salvage it after the 45-minute sea battle with a cluster of 20 guerrilla boats, it said.
“A cluster of Tiger boats attacked the ship while another cluster engaged the navy gunboats,” navy spokesman D.K.P. Dassanayake said. He estimated that at least six suicide cadre were killed in the attack.
The attack came two days after the military said it captured Vakari, the final bastion of the Tigers in the east of the island after weeks of fighting that killed at least 45 soldiers and nearly 331 rebels.'
The Sri Lankan ship was a military supply ship. I talked to my cousin in Point Pedro. He said the Sri Lankan naval and air forces were fighting with the Tamil navy for hours. There were firing reported from the so called Food supply ship. Currently, the ship is on fire and slowly sinking!!!! It is said that this ship might have hundreds of sri lankan troops in it!!
As for the above poster... sure! Keep on lying! Couple of more months and Singhalese can live in Sri Lanka and Tamils in Tamil Eelam and live in harmony!

Have you guys ever lived in Jaffna? I don't think so. Jaffna peninsula has 45,000 Singhala soldiers. There is curfew from 5:30 pm to 6 am every day for the past 10 years! Right now, Sri Lankan government shut down the main land supply route to this Tamil territory. 600,000 Tamils are starving to death!

Ofcourse it is a valid target in a war! 60,000 Military in Jaffna is fed and armed While 600,000 innocent Tamils are starved to death by Sri Lankan government!

They have killed 120,000 Tamils and kicked out 1/3 of the Tamil population from Sri lanka(1.2 million)!!!
