Two Pakistani troops killed by roadside bomb
Aug 16, 2007, 7:35 GMT
Islamabad - A roadside bomb killed two Pakistani soldiers and injured four more Thursday as they were returning to their base from operations near the border with Afghanistan, the Geo news channel reported.
The attack on the military vehicle occurred in the North Waziristan tribal district, where pro-Taliban insurgents have repeatedly targeted security forces since Pakistani troops stormed a radical mosque in the capital Islamabad in July.
A military convoy in neighbouring South Waziristan was also attacked but there were no casualties.
Meanwhile, media reported the launch of an army operation in the region to recover 15 soldiers who were captured last week by militants demanding the release of ten of their men. The decapitated body of one hostage was found Tuesday.
