Norwegian aid group rejects allegations it supports Tamil rebels
Jul 28, 2008, 15:07 GMT
Oslo - A Norwegian aid group Monday rejected allegations that is has given trucks to Tamil rebels fighting the government of Sri Lanka, reports said.
Sri Lanka's Defence Ministry posted an article on its web site Sunday stating that Norwegian People's Aid had given trucks and other vehicles to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
The article said the LTTE was using the vehicles 'for its military operations in the North, and intends using them for disinformation activities, too.'
Norwegian People's Aid secretary general Petter Eide rejected the allegations, saying 'the trucks were stolen,' Norwegian news agency NTB said.
'These allegations are just fabricated. The vehicles were stolen, taken by force,' Eide added, saying the aid group had no interest in equipping the LTTE.
Norway in 2002 helped broker a ceasefire agreement that has since collapsed.

NPA did not 'report' or publicise that their vehicles were taken by the Tamil terrorists until the news was made public by the defence ministry. Why? Did NPA hope that no one would know of their indirect help? It is common knowledgte that Norway has for years helped the LTTE directly and indirectly via NGO's. The relevant question is did the NPA act on it's own or did the foreign minister of Norway ask them to? Trust the NPA will oblige with an answer. If no credible answer is forthcoming, the government of Sri Lanka should expel NPA with ALL it's equipment which could be used in other countries to help people rather than terrorists.
Why didn't NPA inform the authorities when the vehicles were stolen. It's too late to defend now. If the vehicles were lost in govenment controlled areas, I am sure they will report in no time. It's time the NPA leadership come forward and be honest of their motives.

Funny, why didnt they inform the government of Sri Lanka before hand. The government according to news sources has found out through other sources and then published it in its web site. This clearly shows the complicity of the NPA with the LTTE
