Kathmandu - Eight people were killed and more than 30 were injured in a bus accident in southern Nepal, media reports said Wednesday.
The bus crashed near the town of Chandranighapur in Rautahat district, about 90 kilometres south of the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, after the driver lost control, independent Kantipur Television reported.
The television quoted police as saying the eight died instantly while some of the at least 30 injured were rushed to hospital in serious conditions.
Police said the bus had been speeding along a causeway which was flooded by seasonal rains.
Hundreds of people are killed each year in Nepal in road accidents involving public transport.
