US President Bush offers condolences to families of French soldiers
Aug 19, 2008, 20:40 GMT
Washington - US President George W Bush offered his condolences to the families of 10 French soldiers who died in Afghanistan Tuesday after an ambush by Taliban militants.
Bush was briefed at his ranch in Crawford, Texas on the attack that wounded more than 20 other French soldiers, said Gordon Johndroe, the spokesman for the White House's National Security Council.
'He sends his condolences to the loved ones of those lost, as well as those wounded, and to the people of France, just offer our heartfelt thanks for the sacrifice that they are making and the commitment that the French are making to help secure Afghanistan,' he said.
The Taliban ambushed the French convoy east of Kabul and a lengthy firefight followed.

...but didn't Time magazine just declare this 'the Right War' one minute after Obama endorsed it????
Welll...if HE thinks so....after all, with his extensive foreign policy and military backround, who could argue with that?
What do you think, now, Barak?
... the lives are irreplaceable.
What sacrifice has Bush personally made? ... none. Absolutely none. (He wanted to be seen as some historical hero)
Bush will slept perfectly well tonight because as he's said many times 'I don't reflect on my decisions and think about whether I make mistakes or not'
Condolences? ... Just more empty words from an empty man.
You say: 'Excuse me'
Well, sunshine, there is absolutely no excuse for you. There may be reasons for your continued valueless existence, but no excuse.
...but your empty hateful rehtoric neither makes me wrong, distinguishes you or provides an answer to my question.
'empty hateful rehtoric'
There you go again, misspelling words that you don't understand. You, the Bongmaster have got to be the most hate filled, twisted sister on this site. As for the empty part, except for the worms crawling around in there, your head is empty. Delta Foxtrot to you, little girlie man.
...about how Barak thinks this is the 'right' war?
Really?
I wonder if his condolences will be empty?
Foxtrot Yankee.
Yes SP4, the war in Afghanistan IS justifiable due to their direct involvement in 9-11. (That's the support for it that you cite from Barak).
But that's a different topic entirely from the way George Bush has ran that war. (utter failure to finish it before diverting resources and focus on Iraq ... so now Afghanistan is still a mess)
Yes SP4, we all know you like to muddy little details like that together in the mush you have for brains.
The rest of of know the difference ... YOU SP4, choose to remain clueless.
harbouring Osama Bin Laden and his gang of thugs. When asked to turn them over to the US, Afghanistan refused, ergo we went there to collect him ourselves. In reality, I don't believe bush gives a shit about OBL or Afghanistan; his sights were set on Iraq (OIL) from before we were attacked. 9-11-01 just gave him the excuse he needed-----everything else was fabricated. bush intentionally lied to the American people to start his war. Lying to start a full blown war is OK for some but not for me. Some of these bad-ass terrorists are more truthful than bush. bush has to lie and sneak around like a little weasle; some president he makes.
