Feb 11, 2009, 12:12 GMT
Paris - A French soldier was killed Wednesday in Afghanistan and another was badly wounded in a battle with rebels south-east of the capital Kabul, French radio reported.
An Afghan interpreter was also killed in the skirmish, which took place during a joint Afghan-French patrol.
In a statement, President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned what he called 'this blind violence' and said that France 'would continue to work for peace in Afghanistan.'
