Norway urges Sri Lanka to aid refugees

May 19, 2009, 11:59 GMT

Oslo - Norway said Tuesday it hoped the government of Sri Lanka will aid victims of the civil war after declaring victory against the Tamil rebels.

'Our thoughts go to all who have lost relatives and loved ones in the war. We must cooperate to aid the victims. People in the refugee camps must quickly be allowed to return home,' Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store said in a statement.

Norway has earlier been engaged in efforts to broker ceasefire agreements between the government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

'To secure the peace it is necessary to find political solutions,' Environment and International Development Minister Erik Solheim said, calling for Colombo to 'be generous' to the Tamil minority.

Store said the situation in the refugee camps for internally displaced people must be improved, in line with demands made by the United Nations.

Solheim said it was key to list the names of refugees, missing and prisoners of war.

It is very funny that these failed brokers still do not know their low capabilities and trying to teach others what to do.

After mastering the war into winning position against most bloodiest terror group in the world without any help from these western double agents Sri Lanka can look after its citizens well.

You should know the Government sent food and medicine past many years even they were under terror control. Even the terrorists gobbled food sent by Govt. and attacked in return. We taxpayers in south paid millions for this past many decades.

Now no terrorist to rob the food sent to civilians we can help the people than before.
