UN panel extends mandate for UN mission in Nepal

Jul 23, 2009, 20:30 GMT

New York - The UN Security Council Thursday extended the mandate of the UN political mission in Nepal for another six months.

The unanimous decision to keep the 750 UN mission members in Nepal was in accord with a request form Kathmandu. Mission head Karin Landgren called the decision on Thursday in New York an important step to pushing forward the peace process in the world's youngest republic.

The priority was to help integrate the former Maoist fighters and support the process of drawing up a constitution, she said.

After more then 10 years of constant fighting between Maoist rebels and royal troops ended in late 2007, the centuries-old monarchy was dismantled. The UN mission UNMIN arrived on January 23, 2007, with a mandate to support the peace process.

Efforts have reaced a stalemate, Landgren said, urging the government as well as the Maoists to cooperate in a pragmatic fashion.

Dear editor,
we all know, the main objective of UNMIN is to establish peace in Nepal, but to the contrary, at we have here is- The Team of Representatives-UNMIN' who have been found working against the peace process in Nepal.
We are totally puzzled about whether UNMIN is here to establish peace or confuse the people. We really don't understand, 'What are the interests of UNMIN and America in Nepal?' Why is UNMIN instigating civil war in Nepal? Can UNMIN answer the statements from the Maoist leader ?
Recently, one influential Maoist, Mr. Chandra Bahadur Thapa said (threat loaded statement) in June 8, 2009- 'The Maoists’ Party still possesses weapons that can devastate the entire Kathmandu Valley. We have safeguarded those weapons that can destroy Kathmandu. Now even the incumbent Prime Minister is not safe. If the Maoists are further teased we can take action against any one on our own.' What is that ? Is this peace assignment of UNMIN in Nepal? Where is UNMIN ? It is quite frustrating for Nepalese people that the tenure of UNMIN has been prolonged by the Nepalese empowered traitors for the 4th time. After the resignation of Maoist PM Prachanda and Baburam Bhattarai are also expressing the threat that they are going to establish one party communist rule (so-called people democracy) in Nepal.
A Nepalese scholar, Mr. Shashi Malla says- 'The Maoists want to establish a totalitarian Stalinist state and isolate Nepal from the international arena in pursuit of their antiquated ideology. If nothing is done to stop them soon, our country will be thrown back decades. The Maoist conception of an ostensible federation based on ethnic communities will spell the death-knell of national unity.'
These treacherous leaders of Congress (Girija Prasad), UMA ( Madhab nepal ( present PM of Nepal) Jhalanath, Bamdev & Maoist ( Prachanda, Baburam Bhattarai, Narayan Kaji ) parties have become the stooges of the foreigners as they are finishing off the prestige of the country by disregarding the worth of the Supreme Court and defaming the national army. These leaders of the so called 'big parties' do not believe in the rule of law, they are not democratic and they do not believe in the constitutional way. As observed, the business and mentality of 601 members including the leaders the constituent assembly cannot find any way out. Can the country and the people be safe from murderers and the traitors?
Almost all the culprit party leaders are the agents of India. Nepal has always been victimized by Indian imperialism. As we have open border between Nepal & India, we always suffer from Indian intrusion. The infamous Indian intelligence agency 'RAW' is working and implementing its grand design to make Nepal and the Nepalese suffer more. Is it New Nepal?
Nepalese people had expected that the UN's role would be impartial. But the UN could not remain neutral. The UNMIN listens only to the Maoist rebels and the corrupt leaders of the so-called big party totally disregarded the aspiration of majority of the Nepalese people. By hatching such conspiracy of the UNMIN teams are working to push Nepal into a bloodier civil war and conflict. From the very beginning, UNMIN has been demoralizing Nepal Army and supporting Maoist and its rebel by allowing them to keep the weapons with them in the cantonment and let them start the youth force (YCL), who can be the law and order itself as they used to do during their revolution. Nowhere in the world, would a country be able to protect its sovereignty by making the national army weak and powerless? So, we hate such notorious activities of UNMIN.
Nepal couldn't find any way to open the door from the foreign-diplomats.
But, UNMIN teams always tries to extend his duration and this could prove fatal to Nepal's sovereignty and national integrity. UNMIN always bargains to extend the duration.
As Nepal is a sovereign country, Nepalese army is free to do anything for the country. Nepalese people don't tolerate foreign intervention to our domestic affairs. To save Nepal, Nepalese people want the everlasting institution- 'the monarchy.' Nepalese monarchy is the most convincing identity of Nepal's independence and its sovereignty. The people's oriented monarchy must be reinstated.
Thank you.

Sincerely yours
