Aug 6, 2009, 18:38 GMT
Colombo - Newly-appointed Tamil rebel leader Selvarasa Pathmanathan, also known as KP, has been arrested in Bangkok, a Sri Lankan military official said Thursday.
Udaya Nanayakkkara said that there was confirmation about the arrest, but no details were available.
Pathmanathan was appointed a month ago after Tamil rebels of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were crushed by the Sri Lankan military.
Pathmanathan has been known to be main arms procurement agent for the rebels and had been operating in Thailand and other countries, although his recent whereabouts had not been known.
