Oct 1, 2009, 10:25 GMT
Cairo - Al-Qaeda network vowed to avenge the death of Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud, who was killed in a US missile strike in Pakistan in August, the group announced in a message published on Islamic websites Thursday.
'We tell the criminal Americans and their supporters, the Pakistani apostates, that we will not forget this hero's blood and we will revenge his death,' said al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan, Mustafa Abul-Yazid, in a video message.
Abul-Yazid, an Egyptian, said that Mehsud was 'keen on training younger men in his tribe to fight enemies of God ... other fighters should take a lesson from him.'
Mehsud, the leader of Pakistan's Taliban movement, was killed August 5 in a US drone air strike.
