Oct 15, 2009, 11:52 GMT
Islamabad - At least one child was killed and two people injured as an explosion ripped through a residential area in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan's militancy-plagued North-West Frontier Province, health officials said.
The blast occurred in Gulshan-e-Colony, an upmarket area where the residences of many senior government officials are located.
Television footage showed smoke rising from the area and snapped power cables lying on the road.
'One dead body of a child and two injured have been moved here,' an official at the city's main Lady Reading Hospital said by phone.
The nature of the blast was not immediately clear.
