Suicide blast kills at least two in Pakistan
Nov 8, 2009, 4:48 GMT
Islamabad - A suicide bomber struck a cattle market in Pakistan's troubled North-West Frontier Province Sunday, killing at least two people and injuring several more, police said.
The attack took place in the Adezai area on the outskirts of the provincial capital, Peshawar.
Police officer Azam Khan said the bomber targeted a local mayor, Abdul Malik.
Malik, who was wounded in the bombing, has survived several attempts on his life. He heads the local militia formed against the militants operating in the nearby Khyber tribal region.
Pakistan has been witnessing a wave of attacks on official and civilian targets since October. They have killed more than 300 people.
