Suicide bomber kills anti-Taliban lawmaker in Pakistan
Dec 1, 2009, 8:34 GMT
Islamabad - A suicide bomber struck the house of an anti-Taliban lawmaker in Pakistan's restive Swat valley on Tuesday, killing the provincial parliamentarian, police said.
The attack on the residence of Shamsher Ali in Swat's Kanju area was the latest in a string of bombings against government, military and civilian targets, which have killed over 350 people since October.
'Yes, Mr Shamsher has been confirmed dead,' local police officer Ibrahim Khan said over the phone.
More than a dozen people were also injured when the bomber blew himself up among a crowd of people who had come to exchange greetings with Ali following the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha celebrated over the weekend.
