Afghan troops kill three Pakistani civilians near border

Islamabad - Afghan forces shot dead three Pakistani civilians who had crossed the border mistakenly, a Pakistani security official said Friday.
Three shepherds from the Tashaddo village in Pakistan's south-western province of Balochistan strayed early Thursday into the Zangeer area of the Afghan province of Zabul, said Murtaza Baig, a spokesman for Pakistan's border security forces.
'Our Afghan colleagues informed us late on Thursday that they had shot dead three Pakistanis in their area, and we received their bodies this morning,' Baig said Friday by phone from Quetta, Balochistan's capital.
The 2,640-kilometre Pakistan-Afghan border is poorly marked and the tribes living on both sides often move across through the mountains on traditional mud tracks to visit their relatives.
Thousands of Pakistani, Afghan and NATO troops guard the frontier to prevent Taliban militants from slipping into Afghanistan to attack international troops.
