Earthquake shakes Pakistan-Afghan border; no reports of deaths
Feb 28, 2010, 9:44 GMT
Islamabad - A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the mountainous border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan on Sunday, meterological officials in Islamabad have reported.
The quake, which was felt in the Pakistani capital, had an epicentre inside Afghanistan, in the Hindu Kush mountain range.
There were no reports yet of deaths or casualties.
Earthquakes are common in the region. In 2005 nearly 80,000 people died in Pakistan and India, when a 7.6-point quake hit struck in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
