Dhaka - The Bangladesh Election Commission said Tuesday that soldiers would maintain order during municipal elections set to begin June 17.
'The deployment of the army will be for five days before and after the elections,' Chief Commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda said in announcing the election schedule for the port city of Chittagong, where officials have registered 1.7 million voters.
The election schedules for five other municipalities will be announced later, officials said.
