21 killed in Afghanistan flash floods

Kabul - Flash floods triggered by torrential rains have killed at 21 people in Afghanistan, officials said Thursday.
The worst affected area was the eastern province of Nangarhar, where the flooding, which began on Wednesday night, killing 19 people, said Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the provincial governor's spokesman.
Eight people were injured in the flooding while a dozen others were missing, he said.
The floods have destroyed thousands of hectares of crops, he added.
Two people were killed and hundreds of houses were destroyed in floods on Wednesday night in the capital Kabul.
Locals said they had received no aid from the government so far.
Recent floods in Afghanistan's eastern and central provinces have caused heavy casualties and destroyed thousands of houses.
In the past month nearly 100 people have died in Afghanistan due to heavy floods and thousands have been displaced.
