Nov 4, 2010, 20:19 GMT
New Delhi - A Delta Airlines plane landed in Mumbai late Thursday under what were described as emergency conditions after an unidentified object was reported to be in the plane's cargo-hold, the Indian daily The Hindu reported on its website.
The Hindu said the plane was carrying 244 passengers from Amsterdam, landing at 11:20 pm.
It was then taken to an isolated bay at the airport for a thorough search, the paper cited airport sources as saying.
The report said the tip about the unidentified object was provided by a staff member of Delta in Amsterdam.
The Indian broadcaster NDTV also reported the arrival of the Delta plane at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport under emergency conditions.
NDTV said all 244 passengers disembarked from the plane before it was taken to an isolated area for a search by an anti-explosives squad.
Further details were not immediately known.
