Obama has to say sorry first at home

Nov 8, 2010, 15:52 GMT

New Delhi - Barack Obama may be president of the United States, but if there's a fight at the White House, he has to say sorry first, US first lady Michelle Obama said Monday.

Michelle Obama, who has spent a large part of her time in India with children, was asked by a young girl at the crafts museum she visited in Delhi: 'When you and the president have a fight, who makes up?'

'I always wait for the president to say sorry because I am a woman,' Michelle Obama responded with a smile, PTI news agency reported, citing museum chairperson Ruchira Ghosh.

Michelle Obama seems to have charmed Indians across the board. 'Michelle steals Barack's thunder,' said a headline in India Today magazine's online edition.

'Dancing queen Michelle rocks India,' said the Times of India newspaper, referring to her joining children in dancing to Indian tunes on two occasions in Mumbai.

At a town hall meeting with college students on Sunday, she talked of how they should dream big and spoke of her parents who had not gone to college, could not give her and her brother too many material things but gave them values of humility, respecting others and hard work.

The values showed when on Saturday a young girl said meeting her was a dream come true and Michelle Obama quickly responded, 'No, you are a dream come true for me,' the Times of India reported.

At the Delhi crafts museum, a group of girls aged 10-13 were present with her throughout her tour and she carefully made sure to hold hands with each one of them, IANS news agency reported.
