Four civilians killed in homemade bomb attack in Afghanistan
Nov 22, 2010, 11:37 GMT
Kabul - Four Afghan civilians were killed and two injured in a roadside bombing in a remote village in the south-eastern province of Paktia Monday, NATO said.
A statement from the military alliance said international forces transported the injured to a hospital in Zurmat district, but did not give further details.
More civilians have been killed this year than in any other since the ouster of the Taliban regime in 2001, according to the United Nations.
The Taliban militants rely heavily on suicide and roadside bombs in their insurgency against the Afghan army and the 150,000 foreign soldiers based in the country.
Two civilians were also injured when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-filled vest in Mohamand Dara district in the eastern province of Nangarhar.
The Ministry of Interior condemned the incident, calling it 'un-Islamic' and 'inhumane.'
Separately, unknown gunmen killed a labourer in Sanzari village in the southern province of Kandahar on Sunday, the governor's office said.
The statement said the man, who worked for a government-funded project, was dragged out of the house and killed in front of his children.
