US drone strike kills three in Pakistan
Nov 28, 2010, 12:00 GMT
Islamabad - A suspected US unmanned drone aircraft Sunday fired one missile into a vehicle in Pakistan's restive tribal region, killing three people, intelligence officials said.
The missile strike took place in Hassan Khel village, some 30 kilometers north of Mir Ali, a major town in North Waziristan tribal district.
'The locals have pulled out three charred bodies from the wreckage of the vehicle,' said an intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The identity of those killed was not known yet.
North Waziristan is a hotbed of Taliban and al-Qaeda militants who carry out raids against foreign troops deployed across the border in Afghanistan.
The United States has increased its drone attacks in the district as Pakistan is hesitant to launch a military operation against the militants there, saying its troops were outstretched in the security actions against Islamist insurgents in other tribal areas.
