Roadside bomb kills Romanian soldier in Afghanistan

Bucharest - A Romanian soldier serving with the NATO mission in Afghanistan was killed by a bomb on Tuesday, the Defence Ministry said in Bucharest.
The soldier, Ionel Marinescu, 28, was fatally wounded by an improvised explosive device on a highway in the southern Zabul province. Another Romanian soldier was killed last week.
Romania, a former Communist bloc country that joined NATO in 2004, has deployed about 1,700 soldiers to the mission in Afghanistan.
