NATO helicopter crashes in eastern Afghanistan, killing soldier
May 26, 2011, 12:39 GMT
Kabul - A NATO military helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday, killing a foreign soldier, the alliance said in a statement.
The cause of the crash was unknown and an investigation was underway, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said.
The military did not reveal the nationality of the deceased as NATO often waits until national authorities have informed the next of kin.
More than 190 foreign troops have been killed in Afghan conflicts so far this year, according to ICasualties.org, an independent website that tracks NATO military fatalities in Afghanistan.
