Sri Lankan traffic accident kills six
Jun 17, 2011, 9:41 GMT
Colombo - Six people including a child were killed when a motorized tricycle crashed into a parked vehicle in central Sri Lanka early Friday, police said.
The driver had apparently fallen asleep on the way back from a pilgrimage before crashing in Mwathagama, 110 kilometres east of the capital, killing himself and all his passengers.
Road accidents claim more than 2,300 lives each year in Sri Lanka, despite recent road safety campaigns by the authorities. ad
