Son of assassinated Pakistani liberal politician kidnapped
Aug 26, 2011, 8:30 GMT
Islamabad- Unknown gunmen Friday kidnapped the son of the late liberal politician Salman Taseer in eastern Pakistan, officials said.
Shahbaz Taseer was abducted from his car in the upmarket area of Lahore, the capital of the eastern province of Punjab, by at least four kidnappers.
The province's Law Minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed the kidnapping and said efforts were being made to recover the victim, said to be in his 20s.
His father Salman Taseer was killed by his own guards in January for alleged blasphemy.
Nobody claimed responsibility for the kidnapping but media reports said that the family had received threats from Islamist militants in recent months.
