Three injured in insurgent attacks in Kashmir
Oct 25, 2011, 9:04 GMT
Srinagar, Kashmir - Three troops were injured Tuesday when suspected militants hurled grenades at two bunkers manned by security personnel in Srinagar in India-administered Kashmir, police said.
The rebels attacked the Central Reserve Police Force in the Lal Chowk area of central Srinagar, followed by another attack minutes later about a kilometre away at a bus stop near Batmaloo, they said.
Three paramilitary soldiers were injured in the first blast when a grenade exploded on the roof of their bunker.
The disputed Kashmir region is divided into two parts, one administered by India the other by Pakistan, who have fought two wars over the disputed region.
More than 45,000 people - including civilians, militants and security forces - have been killed in the secessionist movement in India-administered Kashmir.
India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of aiding Kashmiri militants. Islamabad has denied the charge, calling the insurgents freedom fighters.
